Jason Gibbs

Jason is the president and CEO of Jason Gibbs, LLC - a strategic communication and project management business.

Prior to launching his own firm, Jason was Director of Marketing for Ski Vermont, the Vermont Ski Areas Association (VSAA). Founded in 1969, VSAA is the trade association representing Vermont’s alpine and Nordic ski areas in marketing, public affairs and governmental relations.

Before joining Ski Vermont, Jason was a candidate for Secretary of State and served as Vermont's Commissioner of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR). Under Jason's leadership, FPR reduced its reliance on taxpayer financed spending nearly 30%, increased timber sales 27%, boosted park visits more than 15% and made more than 1300 cord of fuel wood available to qualifying households. Jason also advocated for, and guided, the largest single investment ($8.3 million) in state park improvements -- creating hundreds of private construction jobs, boosting park attendance and helping to put the system on a more sustainable financial path.

Prior to his appointment as Commissioner, he served 6 years on Governor Douglas’ senior staff as Communications Director and Secretary of Civil and Military Affairs. He was a senior policy advisor to the Governor, as well as liaison to the National Governors Association, the Council of State Governments, the Coalition of Northeastern Governors and numerous state agencies including the Agency of Human Services, the Agency of Natural Resources and Vermont Emergency Management.

Early in his career Jason worked for the Alliance for Small Contractors. He was later Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston. Jason returned to Vermont to work in the Office of Communication and Public Affairs at Fletcher Allen Health Care.

Jason is former chairman and vice chairman of the Coalition of Northeastern Governors Advisory Board; the Board of National Forests; and the Green Mountain Adventure Racing Association board. He is currently a member of the Waterbury-Duxbury Board of School Directors, the Vermont Natural Resources Board (alternate), the Department of Correction's Community High School of Vermont board of directors, Green Mountain Council executive and audit committees, the annual Eagle Scout Recognition Day committee, the Vermont Travel Industry Conference committee and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Jason is an Eagle Scout, an avid outdoorsman and lives in Duxbury with his wife, Amy, and their daughter Addison.
